Children’s Programs
Day Care and Preschool Lessons Include:
- Matches are Tools for Adults, Not Toys for Kids
- Smoke Alarms - What to Do When it Sounds
- Get Out and Stay Out/Two Ways Out
- Crawl Low Under Smoke
- Firefighters Are Your Friends (teaches young children not to fear firefighters)
Elementary School Programs
Age-specific programs are provided at all elementary schools in Farmers Branch. Each grade is taught a different fire prevention and life safety lesson.
Station Tours
Adults and children will see how the firefighters live through the "Firefighters Are Your Friends" program.
Branch Brigade Safety Clowns
The Farmers Branch Fire Department Branch Brigade Safety Clowns teach fire safety lessons to large groups of 50 or more. They provide Risk Watch Unintentional Injuries programs to children ages three to 10. They are unavailable during the month of October (as they are busy teaching Fire Safety in Farmers Branch schools). They are available throughout the year, on a limited basis, so please call in advance for availability.
Resident Programs
Special Request Classes, Programs and Events
The Fire Department tries to accommodate requests for special fire prevention classes, programs and attendance at education events (such as health and safety fairs) within the City. Please call for availability.
Home Fire Safety Inspection
Any resident of the City of Farmers Branch can call to schedule a home fire safety inspection. A member of the Farmers Branch Fire Department can be made available to make home visits and make fire safety recommendations.
Blood Pressure Checks
Both fire stations offer free blood pressure checks.
Workplace Programs
Fire Extinguisher Training
This course includes classroom and/or hands-on training in the safe use and inspection of fire extinguishers. This class is available to businesses or special groups in Farmers Branch. A minimum of five people is required. The business or group must provide the fire extinguishers.
Fire Warden Training
Inspectors can be made available to speak at fire warden meetings. The topics will include fire and life safety in the workplace and evacuation procedures.
Safety Committees
Inspectors can be made available to speak on a variety of fire and life safety issues.
