The Farmers Branch Senior Center is one of the most thriving recreational facilities in the Metroplex. The current Senior Center has been in operation since 2000 and has become a staple for active seniors in Farmers Branch. 

The 22,400-square-foot facility boasts a large multi-purpose room with a hardwood dance floor, a computer lab with Internet access and a workout facility. The Senior Center offers more than 70 programs geared toward meeting the physical, mental, social and emotional needs of individuals 50 and over.

  • Thursday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM 
  • 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays 1 to 5 PM 
  • 2nd and 4th Saturdays 1 to 9:30 PM 
  • CLOSED New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th and 5th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. 

Directions:

  • The Farmers Branch Senior Center is located at the southwest corner of Dennis Lane and Valwood Parkway in Farmers Branch. View a map of the Farmers Branch Senior Center. Directions from Interstate 635, LBJ Freeway: Exit Webb Chapel Road and turn north. Go left on Valwood Parkway, then left on Dennis Lane. The Farmers Branch Senior will be located on the right. Directions from Interstate 35E, Stemmons Freeway: Exit Valwood Parkway and go east. Take a right on Dennis Lane. The Farmers Branch Senior Center will be on the right.  

Bus Day Trips

  • Great trips are offered weekly with new trips posted every Friday at noon. Farmers Branch residents may purchase tickets the first week the trip has been posted. Identification is required to prove Farmers Branch residency.  Non-residents may purchase tickets the following Friday at noon if available. Visit the front desk to register. Breakfast with the Rockwells

Enjoy a continental breakfast at the Boy Scout Museum with docents showing the Norman Rockewell collection. Lunch will be on your own at Sfuzzi's Restaurant.

Kalachandjis Restaurant and Tour of the Dallas Hare Krishna Temple

Tuesday, February 28  10:45 AM - 2:30 PM  Fee: $3  Moderate Walking

Join us for this "bucket list" adventure in dining, exploring and learning. Take a tour of the Hare Krishna Temple that started rennovations in 1979 and was completed in 1981. The Kalachadjis Restaurant was built soon afterwards and pratices the timeless Ayurvedic art of cooking for the body, mind and spirit.  The Kalachandji provides a delicious vegetarian cuisine.

Monday Night Dances

  • Farmers Branch Senior Center is the place to be on Monday nights. Live music and friendly people make the Farmers Branch Senior Center dances the best in the area. Tickets are $5 at the door and the dances begin at 7 p.m. Refreshments are served at intermission. Free dance lessons are offered at 6 p.m. for those attending the dance.

Health & Fitness

  • The Farmers Branch Senior Center includes equipment for both cardio and strength training. In order to utilize the fitness equipment at the Senior Center, each person must attend a short orientation meeting. Fitness orientations are held Tuesday mornings at 11:00 AM. A 24-hour advanced notice is required either by phone or in person. 

Computer Classes

Space is limited so please be sure to register at the front desk.

Skype Class

Learn to use Skype as a personal way of keeping in touch with family and friends. This technology will allow face to face conversations over the internet for free.

Movie Maker

Learn what can be done with video clips to make a DVD that will play on a home DVD player. Learn to add still shots and sound track also.

Computer Basics 1

Gain a solid foundation on which to expand computer skills and gain confidence in the use of the mouse. This course is designed for the student who has never used a computer or has limited exposure to computers.

Game Night 2012

Monopoly is the theme for the Senior Center's most popular event of the year where participants can try your luck at various casino games. Gifts and prizes will be given throughout the evening with several large raffle prizes and one grand prize awarded at the close of the event. Check availability of tickets by calling 972.919.8740. Ticket fee: $8.

Volunteering

  • Volunteers are the most important resource for any Senior Center. The Farmers Branch Senior Center knows that much of the success within the Center is a result of our wonderful volunteers. If you would like to be a part of this team by giving a few hours back to the place you enjoy, please visit the front desk for more information.

Senior Advisory Board

  • The Senior Advisory Board meets at the Senior Center the second Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. To be placed on the agenda for the Board or for questions, call 972.919.8740.
