The SmartScape® program is a landscaping concept that utilizes xeriscape principles, but goes beyond those basics by providing design, care and plant search tools that are “smart” for North Central Texas. This program will show North Texans how to:
- Conserve water and save money on your water bills
- Beautify your home and local environment
- Attract native butterflies, hummingbirds and other wildlife
- Prevent and help reduce storm water pollution
It includes the benefits of SmartScape, Care & Maintenance, Design Tools, Garden Gallery, Precautions, Resources and SmartScape events. It also includes an interactive feature that allows you to search a database for "beautiful plants that will survive the rains of spring, droughts of summer, and cold snaps of winter, while also protecting our water resources."
The City of Farmers Branch encourages residents to use the Smartscape concepts in landscaping design.
