Are you eligible for cash back, permit rebates, complimentary City services or gift cards for the work you’re planning to do to your home?

Take advantage of the City of Farmers Branch’s Resident Incentive Programs. All incentives will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis, are subject to fund availability and are at the sole discretion of the City Council. All applications must be completed within 60 calendar days of the completion of the project.

Exterior Makeover Incentive Program

Level One:

  • Market value of home is less than $150,000 according to the Dallas Central Appraisal District
  • Makeover project(s) qualify with the Exterior Makeover Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another
  • Must spend between $2,000 and $9,999
  • Incentives Awarded:
    • $300 gift card from participating vendors (see Gift Card Vendor form) or cash alternative
    • If the applicant qualifies for an upgrade, detailed on pages seven and eight in the application, the applicant will receive an additional $100 in gift cards from participating vendors

Level Two:

  • Makeover project(s) qualify with the Exterior Makeover Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another
  • Must spend between $10,000 and $24,999
  • Incentives Awarded:
    • $400 gift card from participating vendors (see Gift Card Vendor form) or cash alternative
    • 50% permit fee rebate
    • If an applicant qualifies for an upgrade, detailed on pages seven and eight in the application, the applicant will receive an additional $200 in gift cards from participating vendors

Level Three:

  • Makeover project(s) qualify with the Exterior Makeover Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another
  • Must spend between $25,000 and $49,999
  • Incentives Awarded:
    • 1% cash grant of the applicable improvement cost
    • $500 gift card from participating vendors (see Gift Card Vendor form) or cash alternative
    • 50% permit fee rebate
    • If you qualify for an upgrade, detailed on pages seven and eight in the application, you will receive an additional $300 in gift cards from participating vendors

In the event that the cost of an applicant’s exterior makeover exceeds $50,000, they will then qualify for the Major Remodel Incentive Program. Please note that the application process starts once the work on your home has been completed. You have 60 calendar days from the date of project completion to fulfill all application requirements.

Major Remodel Incentive Program

Level One:

  • Major remodel project(s) qualify with the Major Remodel Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another
  • Must spend between $25,000 and $99,999
  • Incentives Awarded:
    • 2% cash grant of the total improvement cost
    • 50% permit fee rebate

Level Two:

  • Major remodel project(s) qualify with the Major Remodel Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another
  • Must spend more than $100,000
  • Incentives Awarded:
    • 2% cash grant of the total improvement cost
    • 50% permit fee rebate
    • Complimentary City services for twelve months valued at $3,700 (applicable to homesteaded property owner only)
      • Monthly City water and sewer service (maximum annual value of $2,000)
      • WiFi service through the City’s provider (basic monthly plan)
      • Family fitness membership at the Farmers Branch Recreation Center
      • Consultation with the City’s horticultural staff (maximum of three 30-minute consultations)
      • Brookhaven Country Club social membership

Demolition/Rebuild Property Tax Rebate Program

This program is available to persons who own and occupy a one family detached dwelling  in the City who agree to demolish the existing residence and to construct a new residence at the same location. Additional, a developer or builder may qualify for the program if the developer or builder owns a single-family residence in the City and agrees to demolish the residence and construct a new single family residence at the same location provided however any incentive to be paid pursuant the program agreement will not be paid to the developer or builder but rather shall be paid to the first person that owns and occupies the new residence. In the case of a developer or builder the program agreement will be assignable to the first owner occupant of the new residence within 24 months after completion of construction of the new residence, who will then be entitled to payment of the incentives. The incentive will no longer be available, if the owner or developer fails to sell and transfer the new residence to an owner/occupant within the twenty-four (24) month period.

Incentive

The City will provide seven (7) annual consecutive economic development incentive grants. Each incentive shall be equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the difference between the City property taxes assessed and paid for the new improvement (excluding the land) for a given tax year and the City property taxes assessed and paid for the residential structure (prior to demolition) (excluding the land) for the tax year in which the structure was demolished (the “Base Year”).
