Library preps for flurry of holiday events

MANSKE LIBRARY ~ With the holiday season in full swing, the Farmers Branch Manske Library is preparing for a slate of seasonal activities and events, beginning this week.

PATRON APPRECIATION RECEPTION - Wednesday, December 5
Everyone who has ever used the Manske Library is invited to the annual Patron Appreciation Day on Wednesday, December 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the Library's mezzanine. Light refreshments and snacks will be available until 2 p.m.

Farmers Branch joins neighbors to form regional SWAT team

FARMERS BRANCH ~ Farmers Branch Police Department is joining forces with three neighboring north Texas cities to leverage their talent and resources to create a state-of-the-art Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team to deal with crisis situations in their communities.     A total of 54 officers from the four cities will work and train together as the North Texas Metro SWAT Team and will be available for deployment as needed to back up officers in the field.   

TRAFFIC ALERT: Water main break to snarl Valley View traffic

FARMERS BRANCH ~ A major water main break on westbound Valley View at Hutton Drive in Farmers Branch will have traffic snarled in the area for the rest of the workweek.

Farmers Branch Interim Public Works Director Randy Walhood said a 16-inch water distribution main blew out at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, flooding the street. Repair crews will be working around the clock until the situation is resolved.

City offices and facilities to close for Thanksgiving holidays

FARMERS BRANCH ~ City of Farmers Branch offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, November 22 in observance of Thanksgiving Day. Most will remain closed on Friday, November 23 with the exception of the Community Recreation Center and Historical Park, both open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will be no garbage collection on either day.

 

Polling places listed by precinct number for Election Day

DALLAS COUNTY ~ Election day in Dallas County will feature seven polling locations for Farmers Branch where registered voters can cast ballots according to their precinct numbers.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6 for the general election. The following list of precincts and their associated polling places was provided by Dallas County:
