City offices to close at 12 noon on New Year's Eve

FARMERS BRANCH ~ City offices will be closing at noon on December 31 for New Years Eve. Other City facilities have listed their closing hours according to the following schedule:

Mon, Dec 31 - New Year's Eve

  • City Hall - Closes at noon.
  • Rec Center - Closes at 5 p.m.
  • Senior Center - Dance til 9:30.
  • Historical Park - Closes at 5 p.m.
  • Library - Closes at 6 p.m.
  • Tour of Lights closing night.

Fire Station No. 1 receives design award from national organization

FARMERS BRANCH ~ The innovative design work that went into the creation of new Fire Station No. 1 on Webb Chapel Road has been recognized at the national level with an award for station design.

Farmers Branch Fire Chief Steve Parker has been informed that the design for Station No. 1 was received the Recognition Award from the Fire Industry Equipment Research Organization at their conference held recently in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Farmers Branch Police Hostage Negotiation Team receives statewide accolade

FARMERS BRANCH ~ Citing their success in negotiating the end to a tense standoff with an armed suspect, in the yard of a house that was on fire at the time, the Farmers Branch Police Department Hostage Negotiation Team has been named Hostage Negotiation Team of the Year by the Texas Association of Hostage Negotiators.

LBJ Express Project update December 19, 2012

FARMERS BRANCH ~ Weekly updates are provided by LBJ Express Project, the construction company responsible for the 5-year project that will completely renovate the freeway from the Dallas North Tollway to Interstate 35E.

Denton Drive: ATT work requires lane closures on the west side of Denton through December 21. Denton will be closed under LBJ during night-time hours on December 21.

Josey Lane: Construction of the permanent paving and drainage on Josey and the east end of Villa Creek requires various lanes closed until late January.

One Colinas Crossing sold to The Independent Bankers Bank

FARMERS BRANCH ~ The Independent Bankers Bank has acquired One Colinas Crossing, 11701 Luna Road, former home of i2 Technologies and currently half-occupied by JDA Software. 

Built in 1999, the building is six stories and encompasses 181,961 square feet. The Independent Bankers Bank will be moving its headquarters from Irving and absorbing all remaining space in the building.
