Charles Cox named to national financial policy oversight board

NORWALK, CT ~ In an appointment reserved for only the most accomplished in their field, Farmers Branch Finance Director Charles S. Cox has been named to the Financial Accounting Foundation Board of Trustees.

An independent organization, the Financial Accounting Foundation is responsible for oversight of the Financial Accounting Standards Board and its counterpart for state and local government, the Government Accounting Standards Board. 

LBJ Express Project update January 2, 2013

FARMERS BRANCH ~ Weekly updates are provided by LBJ Express Project, the construction company responsible for the 5-year project that will completely renovate the freeway from the Dallas North Tollway to Interstate 35E.

Denton Drive: ATT work requires continues to require a lane closures on the west side of Denton.

Josey Lane: Construction of the permanent paving and drainage on Josey and the east end of Villa Creek requires various lanes closed until late January.

Pam Smith named honorary Dallas County Master Gardener

FARMERS BRANCH ~ In recognition of her years of work in further the field of landscaping in public places, Farmers Branch Parks and Recreation Landscape Manager Pam Smith has been named an honorary Dallas County Master Gardener.

Only one of three honorary title holders, Ms. Smith earned the distinction through years of leadership in the field and close working relationships with multiple universities and gardening agencies, not only making Farmers Branch a much nicer place to be, but promoting landscape education through events, field trips and ongoing classes.

Animal Services staff takes top honors at state conference

FARMERS BRANCH ~ Continuing the tradition of excellence on the Farmers Branch City staff, Miguel Gauna recently received the James A. Vyers Animal Control Officer of the Year award at the Texas Animal Control State Conference held recently.

Awarded to the top animal control officer in the state, the citation specified that Mr. Gauna had performed duties above and beyond what is normally required and has consistently performed at a professional level, representing the City of Farmers Branch in a professional manner at all times.

Tour of Lights closes New Year's Eve

HISTORICAL PARK ~ After 37 days of showing off 300,000 lights to thousands of north Texans, the 2012 edition of the Farmers Branch Tour of Lights comes to a close New Year’s Eve.

Weekend revelers can still take in the sights of the lights on trees, buildings and displays each evening, through Monday, December 31, from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m. The driving tour follows clearly marked Candy Cane signs from the intersection of Valley View and I-35E down William Dodson Parkway, through the DART station area and around to the Farmers Branch Historical Park.
