FARMERS BRANCH ~ On the first night of Liberty Fest, U.S. Army First Lieutenant Robert F. Welch, III will be commemorated by the American Fallen Soldiers Project in a special ceremony at Liberty Plaza, a little more than a year after he was killed in action in Afghanistan at the age of 26.
Everyone is invited to the ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 25, when artist Phil Taylor will present a portrait of Lt. Welch to his family.

FARMERS BRANCH ~ A new Comprehensive Plan for neighborhoods in the central area of the City will be the topic of discussion at a public hearing before the Planning and Zoning Commission, scheduled for Monday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at Farmers Branch City Hall.

FARMERS BRANCH ~ The men and women of the Farmers Branch Police Department will host fellow officers from Carrollton, Addison and Coppell for a ceremony marking the annual observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day, on Tuesday, May 15 at 10 a.m. at Farmers Branch Liberty Plaza, 12400 Stemmons Freeway, just south of the Dr Pepper StarCenter.
Part of Police Week, Peace Officers Memorial Day was signed into law by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 and is observed every May 15.
The public is invited to attend.

Field of Flags & military display to populate Liberty Plaza

FARMERS BRANCH ~ For Memorial Day weekend, Liberty Plaza will become a showplace for military equipment along with a field of US flags to honor the memory of those who have fallen, those who have proudly served, and those who currently serve our country.
Flags were sponsored in memory of or in honor of military loved ones and proceeds benefited the American Fallen Soldiers Project. Come by and see the displays this weekend at Liberty Plaza located directly south of the Dr Pepper StarCenter on Denton Drive off I-35.

MANSKE LIBRARY ~ Just in time for Mother's Day, the Manske Library's Spring Book Sale will boast thousands of offerings this weekend.
Set for Thursday, May 10 through Sunday, May 13, during regular Library hours, the semi-annual sale will offer most titles for less than $1. All proceeds go to benefit Library programs.
