City Council approves new fiscal year budget

CITY HALL ~ The Farmers Branch City Council on Tuesday approved a $73.6 million budget for the coming 2012-2013 fiscal year. 

The balanced budget includes a 3 percent increase in water and sewer rates, to cover increased costs for purchased water and wastewater treatment from the City's water provider, Dallas Water Utilities.

Firefighters to battle Police Officers in search of blood donations

FARMERS BRANCH ~ In a neverending blood battle, Farmers Branch Police Chief Sid Fuller hopes to keep his department's perfect winning streak alive while Farmers Branch Fire Chief Steve Parker tries to rally his department's supporters for a win as this year's Battle of the Badges will bear witness to which public safety agency can proffer the most blood donations.

Pickups-N-Panels schedules classic car and truck show for Farmers Branch Historical Park

 FARMERS BRANCH ~ Classic cars and trucks are bound for the Farmers Branch Historical Park for the annual Pickups-N-Panels show, set for Saturday, September 8 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The "Shoot Out" is open to all 1987 and older model year cars and trucks. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Concessions will be available for purchase and there will be activities for kids.

TALKING TRASH: Proposed landfill expansion is critical to north Texas solid waste needs for next 40 years

 

LEWISVILLE ~ With the intent of providing for the solid waste needs for the next two generations of northern Metroplex neighbors, the City of Farmers Branch has applied for the right to expand its Camelot Landfill, located in the City of Lewisville.
