"Grind Opening" kicks new skate park into high gear

FARMERS BRANCH ~ Taking advantage of brilliant morning sunshine and cool March breezes, a crowd of about 200 kicked off the Farmers Branch Skate Park as the newest recreational venue in the City.

The new park is located just south of the Community Recreation Center and behind the Don Showman Pool, near the intersection of Heartside Place and Valwood Parkway.

Designed to give skateboarders a safe and well-lit area to skate, the new park features a fenced course with ramps, rails, a pyramid and a half-pipe, among other equipment. Hours for the new park are from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. For more information, call 972.247.4607.
